Wheeling's Historic Suspension Bridge Welcome! The River Heritage Foundation, Inc. promotes the efforts of Ohio Valley residents and visitors in recognizing, communicating and preserving the unique heritage of the Ohio River in areas of commerce and recreation. Our projects and programs actively support the education of youth and adults in all areas relating to the Ohio Valley's river heritage and the impact of that heritage and the impact of that heritage on the culture and history of the region. Our vision is that children and adults, both residents and visitors, who are exposed to our education and recreational programs receive a greater understanding of the development of the Ohio Valley. Furthermore, education in time-honored topics of science, industry and economics is conveyed through our presentations and events. Our biggest special event is the Wheeling Vintage Raceboat Regatta, held every Labor Day Weekend on the Ohio River at Wheeling's beautiful Heritage Port.
